Fly problems tend to become more apparent as the weather gets warmer including flies, fleas and ticks. Housefly, Stable Fly, Buffalo Fly and Sandflies become a significant problem for pets.
Flies love biting dogs ears and noses which can lead to serious damage and infection. In floppy eared dogs, the area at the back of the ear where it folds down is usually a favourite feeding ground for flies. Flies target the tips of ears and the bridge of a dog's nose, because those areas have thin skin. Fly bites will leave bloody lumps on dogs' ears--and in the worst cases, maggots can hatch. Preventing flies from biting will keep your dog healthy and happy.
Flies carry bacteria and are capable of causing not only damage to the body of your pet, but serious stress and discomfort if not repelled. If flies have access to infected skin, they can lay eggs inside the wound and these eggs are what will hatch to become maggots. Although the problem can seem over-whelming, there are many ways that can be employed, to ensure that flies do not harm your pet this summer.
